Rex wants Circe to forget about the Pack and come with him to Providence, but she hesitantly refuses, saying it is not her life. The agents of Providence try to stop Van Kleiss when he arrives in New York City. Meanwhile, Rex runs into Circe, who hesitantly knocks him unconscious and imprisons him in a reinforced steel cell that was made to contain him only. He manages to use his technopathic abilities to break out and discovers an underground tunnel, where Van Kleiss has Breach bring nanite-powered soil from Abysus to him. Circe tries to get Rex to join her as one of the Pack, but he refuses. She goes through a portal, saying that it was too late for him to stop Van Kleiss. Rex and Van Kleiss clash, which ends in Rex using the water in the East River to weaken the soil sustaining Van Kleiss' abilities. Van Kleiss attempts to strangle him to death, but Rex manages to use his B.F.S. to break the vine. Before he can finish him off, Van Kleiss mentions how proud his parents would have been. This causes Rex to stop momentarily, allowing Van Kleiss to escape on the blimp. | ||||||

Rex wakes up in a creepy boarding school, full of mannequins and stuffed animals, but no people. He is able to use his ear-link communicator to talk to Dr. Holiday, who informs him that he had been fighting an E.V.O. when Breach appeared out of nowhere and teleported Rex away. Providence has Breach in custody, but while Six and Bobo are detected in a desert somewhere, Rex cannot be located. Rex is about to leave the school when he hears a roar; he rescues a small girl from a spider-like E.V.O. which he then cures only to have Breach teleport it away. Rex finds the girl 'creepy' and suspects something is wrong with her, but puts on a brave face for her. Meanwhile, Dr. Holiday is unable to get Breach to cooperate; she tries firing probes at Breach, who instinctively opens portals to random spots around the world to protect herself. It turns out he is in Breach's own pocket dimension. | ||||||

Dr. Holiday discovers that the floating goop is actually nanites that have become unstable and are multiplying. When a giant one-armed E.V.O. attacks, Circe, Biowulf, and Skalamander also appear and Six thinks its a trap, but they end up fighting the one-armed E.V.O., which dissolves. Rex learns that it is all a plot to return Van Kleiss to life. But Rex has no intention of bringing him back whatsoever. | ||||||

Elsewhere, Breach springs Quarry out of prison to get a rare and powerful weapon called a molecular destablizer. He and Rex fight, and as the weapon continues to disintegrate Rex's nanites, the self-replication function from the Omega Nanite supplies him with more and more nanites. He then makes an even stronger build that can create unusually strong shields of super-energized nanites. Rex easily defeats Quarry and bargains with Breach to release Circe from her pocket dimension. Breach takes Quarry to take the blame, while Rex parts with his old friends. Circe hugs him as thanks for saving her, but Rex says that he is 'okay' with her being with Sqwydd. Circe assures him that she and Skwydd are just friends and nothing more. She and Cricket try to get out a date with Skwydd and Tuck by saying that they would be doing their hair and nails. | ||||||
